About JASS

Just Knowledge

JASS’ publications and materials are the product of lively collective analysis, action research and other kinds of reflection and learning with and among people in the thick of social justice work around the world. Drawing on the activist scholars in our JASS community we build bridges between theory and practice, researchers and practitioners, to sharpen knowledge and action. We hope these resources provide useful guidance and fresh insights about doing justice work from the ordinary and extraordinary actions and thinking of people and organizations we work with who are committed to making a difference in the fight for justice. That's why they’re called Just Knowledge.

Assessing Social Change

JASS’ critiques and alternatives to depoliticized and linear approaches to social change continue in our extensive work on evaluation.  As a “learning organization”, JASS practices what we preach by integrating reflection and assessment in an ongoing way into our programs.  We bring this experience to other organizations to help them integrate reflection and analysis more systematically so that evaluation isn’t something that happens at the end of a project by an outside expert.  JASS has also carried out evaluations for a variety of organizations.
