Anna Davies-van Es

A passionate feminist activist, Anna Davies-van Es coordinates JASS programs and knowledge in the JASS Southern Africa office. With extensive experience in community-based organizing, feminism and advocacy, Anna brings her knowledge to bear in the strategizing and implementation of programs in Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and regionally.

Anna holds a Masters Degree in Development Studies and Social Transformation from the University of Cape Town and spent seven years as a research-educator in the Building Women’s Activism project at the International Labour Research and Information Group (ILRIG). She is also an active member of the collective that drives the work of the Gender Education and Training Network (GETNET).

Committed to recognizing, understanding and fighting all forms of oppression, Anna believes that radical change is only possible through political conscientization, action, reflection and building collective power. She is particularly interested in feminist political education processes, the creation of ’safe spaces’ for women activists and participatory action research.
